Dr Stephen Penrose MA VetMB MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Stephen graduated from Cambridge Vet School in 1985 and after a number of years in mixed practice returned to his home town of Colchester where he purchased the practice in 1990. Stephen enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, and has a special interest in veterinary orthopaedics.

In his spare time he is a keen target rifle shooter and skier. His family’s pets are a Border Terrier called Mischa, a cat, and a gecko.

Dr Nick Greenwood B.Vet.Med MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Nick is originally form Warwick and graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1990. Since becoming a partner in 2003 Nick has been responsible, along with Stephen Penrose and latterly Alison Swinney, for driving the development of the practice, ensuring that staff, equipment and premises are up to date with the latest developments in veterinary medicine at that we maintain our reputation as a caring and forward thinking practice.

Nick is married, has two grown up sons and lives in Wix.

Over the years Nick has taken on a variety of stray cats through the practice, the latest being ‘Stitch’, he also has two Whippets, Lily and Isla who are careful to treat Stitch with the respect he deserves.

Dr Alison Swinney MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Alison qualified in 2009 at Liverpool she joined Penrose Veterinary Group in December 2010 after spending the previous year and a half at a small animal practice in Staffordshire. Alison became a partner in 2015.

Her main interests are medicine and surgery. Alison is a member of the Veterinary Acupuncture Association and runs regular clinics at our Brinkley Lane and Stratford St Mary Surgeries. She enjoys walks with her dog Misty and has recently become a proud Auntie!

Dr Michelle Williams BVSc MRCVS BSAVA PGCertSAM

Veterinary Surgeon

Michelle joined Penrose Veterinary Group in September 2011. Her main interests are small animal medicine, ultrasonography and pet behaviour.

Michelle has her BSAVA PGCertSAM certificate. This qualification equips veterinary surgeons with the further knowledge and expertise that they need to deal with medical situations and explores complex techniques and new advances in veterinary medicine.

At home Michelle is kept busy looking after her own pets Rosie and Gypsy and being creative with various arts and crafts.

Dr Joanna Rodak MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Joanna joined Penrose Veterinary Group in 2012. Joanna has a special interest in Internal Medicine, ultrasonography and along with Alison, runs our acupuncture Clinics.

Joanna’s Cocker Spaniel Nellie comes to work with her everyday and spends her day relaxing on the sofa’s upstairs! Joanna enjoys spending time with her family, and is an accomplished salsa dancer.

Dr Jo Davies BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Jo graduated from the University of Bristol in 2015 and joined Penrose Veterinary Group shortly after. She enjoys both medicine and surgery, but has a particular interest in feline medicine.

Jo does not have any pets at the moment, but the practice is working on getting her a cat very soon! In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, baking and playing squash.

Dr Christopher Goetschel B.Vet.Med MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Chris graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014 and spent 18 months at a small animal practice in Birmingham, before joining Penrose Veterinary Group at the start of 2016. He especially enjoys neurology and loves German Shepherd Dogs.

His own German Shepherd lives in Birmingham with his parents and he currently also has two cats and a rabbit.

Dr Christopher Mortemore B.Vetmed. MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Originally from North West London, Chris graduated from the Royal Veterinary College and spent four and a half years working in a small animal practice in Basildon, prior to joining Penrose Veterinary Group in Summer 2017. He has a particular interest in internal medicine and ultrasonography.

In his spare time Chris enjoys listening and playing music, going for walks in the countryside and playing football. Now he has moved to Colchester he hopes to get his own pet very soon.

Dr Katie South B.Vetmed. MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Katie qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 1995. She worked in mixed practice and then joined Penrose Veterinary Group in 1997. Katie currently works at the practice on Mondays and Thursdays.

She lives in Suffolk with her husband who is also a vet, and they have 2 children as well as a Patterdale Terrier called George and Buddy the Springer Spaniel.

Dr Jackie Pearson BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Jackie works at Penrose Veterinary Group on Mondays and Fridays. Jackie’s special interests are operating and she enjoys rabbit medicine too.

She lives locally with her family and a Westie called Lilly, and a Border Terrier called Harvey, both who are very successful in local dog obedience competitions.

Dr Larry Biot BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Larry joined Penrose Veterinary Group in 2016. Larry enjoys all aspects of Veterinary medicine, and especially enjoys consulting.

Larry lives locally with her cat called Cinnamon. In her spare time Larry enjoys travelling, books and films.
